Where Adult Residential Center Releases Go

ARC is operated by the Johnson County Department of Corrections, not the Sheriff. Residents occupy a structured, court-ordered setting that can include Work Release, House Arrest, Therapeutic Community, Problem Solving Beds, and reentry planning. Leaving the building for approved work or treatment does not by itself mean release from the court program.

Start with the Johnson County Department of Corrections and the court that ordered placement. The court docket can identify the order, modification, completion, or violation action. JCDOC is the operational source for present program status. The Sheriff’s Booking and Release Report is incomplete for ARC because a resident can enter or complete county corrections without a new Sheriff release row.

Bond and recognizance usually point toward community release under court-set terms, but the booking row remains the event evidence. A bond figure or court order alone is not a door-out time. Sentence completion may be followed by supervision or another case. If the location or type suggests transfer, identify the receiving system before drawing a conclusion.

There is no verified public ARC name search. Use an authority-based check and do not interpret absence from the Sheriff roster as program completion.

Call the facility for a time-sensitive physical-status question. Request an archived Sheriff-created record from Central Records. The two functions are related but not interchangeable.

The office is in the Sheriff’s Operations Building at 27747 W. 159th Street, New Century, and lists weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. Ask the records office, rather than the front-line facility, for a copy of an existing booking and release record.

Adult Residential Center Facility Role

Johnson County describes ARC as a 394-bed minimum-security residential center for adults ordered into structured programs. The campus supports work release, house arrest, therapeutic and problem-solving placements, plus reentry planning. A resident can work or attend approved activity outside the building while still serving a county, municipal, or KDOC-linked obligation.

Successful completion can lead into the community or another form of supervision. A violation can produce a return to custody. Those outcomes make ARC different from both ordinary freedom and Sheriff jail detention. ARC Completion Record Sources

ARC has no verified public released-person feed. The useful fields come from the ordering court and county corrections record, not a public daily list. Ask for an existing record that identifies the placement, status change, completion, transfer, or return to custody, subject to lawful access limits.

A displayed row is historical. It does not rule out a later arrest. Likewise, a current roster miss can reflect a transfer, spelling mismatch, delayed data, or no Johnson County booking. Use the event fields instead of treating absence as proof.

Request Adult Residential Center Records

For a record outside the visible daily window, ask narrowly for the existing booking and release or custody-event record. Give the full name, approximate booking date, and booking number or CFN when known. Request the release date and time, type or authority, location, and receiving agency if the exit may have been a transfer. A focused request helps the custodian locate the right event without being asked to create a new narrative.

The Sheriff lists no printed-report charge for the first five pages and $0.35 per page after that. Staff search, review, and redaction time is charged at the employee’s hourly rate. Kansas law calls for a response by the end of the third business day when immediate access is unavailable, with a reason for delay and an expected date.

Johnson County ARC Campus History

Johnson County dates the ARC campus development to buildings opened in 1987, 1993, and 1997, followed by a residential building in 2005 and a programs building in 2007. This local history helps explain why the New Century corrections campus contains several structured statuses that do not fit a simple jail-or-free split.

ARC’s growth also explains the range of programs under one county corrections umbrella. A person can change buildings, programs, or supervision terms without appearing in the Sheriff’s public release report. For that reason, records must be matched to the particular court order and JCDOC program.

House Arrest can form a direct handoff from jail into county corrections. Johnson County says certain weekend and post-imprisonment clients must arrange transportation and report directly from jail. Bonds involving a bondsman use bondsman transport, while direct or traffic sentences require a ride to the office. That movement is structured supervision, not an unqualified release.
